Today was the surprise party that we threw for Dad for his retirement. He was completely shocked. When he walked in he just kind of stood there for a minute or two taking it all in as he just looked around the room. So many of his friends came to see him and it was wonderful to see everyone!
Getting there was not as much fun. The kids were cranky because they were tired and well, they're kids. There was just a lot of work to be done and it was like 95 degrees with 100% humidity. Of course it would be like that on a day we were trying to set up for a party. Oh well, it went well and everyone was happy. My amazing husband even stood outside and grilled in this heat so that we could all eat. What a great guy!
It is now 9:30 PM and the kids are finally in bed and I am exhausted! Tommy is still out cleaning up and taking tables and chairs back to the church...no rest for the weary.
Oh yeh...I forgot to mention that our 2 oldest children decided to start their day at 4:00 AM. That's right, 4:00 AM. Yep, at that time they thought it would be a good idea to be awake and want to play and hang out...until around 6:30. Then they went back to sleep, in our bed. However, as that happened, the youngest decided she wanted to get up and have a little drink. So I fed her a bottle and Tommy left for work.I put her back to bed in the hopes that she would quietly drift back to sleep for 2 more hours or so. Thank goodness she did! At that point I was up for the day.
Long, long days...so tired...I must get some sleep!
